报告摘要:Beta Ti alloys have attracted enormous attention in applications to orthopedic implants because of low elastic modulus close to that of cortical bone along with biocompatibility. A lot of papers were published in many international journals and most of them focused on reducing elastic modulus through alloying and microstructure controlling. The results reported are very useful to develop the implants. Their authors have put stress on the importance of low modulus in hip joint implants called stems to avoid stress-shielding. However, several mechanical properties other than low modulus must be optimized in the development of implants. In this presentation a new concept for development of advanced hip joint stems will be introduced by considering how to balance mechanical properties such as low modulus and high strength. In addition, clinical tests at hospitals using the developed stems will be briefly reviewed.
